Green Tube Tunicate
Ascidia sydneiensisI discovered one solitary Green Tube tunicate in June of 2012. It was just off the mangroves in about 8 feet of water growing up from the soft bottom. Each time I visited the location there was just the one. Then in March of 2013, I discovered two more. It would seem the environment suited them. They are reported to inhabit reefs at depths of 30-130 feet but here they are in just 8 feet of water! The stalks were extended 2-3 inches and the width of the tube (siphon) about an inch and a half.
