Caesar Grunt

Haemulon carbonarium

Uncommon in the Caribbean. After almost 5 years this was the first specimen I've seen. At first it would be easy to mistake a Caesar Grunt for a Bluestriped Grunt, but nose markings are different and none of the Caesar Grunt's fins are yellow. They also don't grow quite as large as the Bluestriped. Only about 1.25 feet long. The Caesar has gold stripes over a blue background, the Bluestriped has blue over yellow background.
